Cyclohexane and Cyclohexanone is an alkane which is mainly used for the production of adipic acid and caprolactam, which are both used in heavy industrial manufacturing of the material known as nylon. It normally has no color (please note that this attribute or trait may not apply to our streams, please check stream details for individual stream details. It’s flammable and smells like soap or detergents and is thus found in some household cleaning products. Cyclohexanone is produced by oxidizing cyclohexane in the air, usually by way of cobalt catalysts. It’s often used by the aviation industry as a solvent to break up sludge found in jet engine turbine fuel. Other more common uses are herbicides, pesticides and utilization in some dyes.
