  • Xylene/MIBK Solvent – 1 tank truck per month; 46% p-Xylene; 25% MIBK; 12% Ethylbenzene; 11% o-Xylene; 0.05% water; balance other light aromatics and c6-c12 esters; 30 APHA; MidwestXylene alcohols

Xylene, an aromatic hydrocarbon, is often used as a solvent and is highly flammable. It’s used in various industries, such as printing (ink), rubber (adhesives) and leather. In laboratory use, it’s often seen in staining, processing of tissues giving it a use in histology.  It is also commonly used to thin paints and varnish. It’s also used as a cleaning agent for steel, silicon circuitry. If the oilfield, paraffin solvent is often partially comprised of xylene or methyl alcohol. Various blends of xylene mixes are often utilized in ethylbenzene production and because of it’s solvent properties, it used in clear coat coating and some paints. Associated blends are sometimes incorporated into fuels and gasoline, acting as an octane booster. It poses health risks if handled improperly and exposed personnel should seek medical attention.

Material safety data sheets and certificate of analysis available upon request. Please contact us for stream availability.
